Along with the revamp of the entire Thrive Market look also came the redesign of the shipping boxes. The box depicts organic, naturalistic illustrations, alluding to Thrive's ethos of organic and sustainable living.
With the branding already established, the box illustrations became a natural extension of the existing icons I designed, inspired by Henri Matisse's paper cut-outs.
As a visual learner, I always find it necessary to print and mock up anything physical. I ended up with several iterations of tiny boxes at 25% scale with proportionally tiny box tape.
In addition to the boxes used for groceries, I also designed a special illustration for Thrive Market's wine boxes. These of course feature more wine-centric illustrations, depicting grape vines, fruits, cheese, and wine glasses. In total, both patterns are seen across 13 different boxes and mailers.
My illustration grew beyond the shipping boxes, with it becoming a iconic part of the brand. It's now seen on Thrive Market's tote bag, gift card, and across social media.
